Uber, Mphasis services to help senior citizens, differently-abled
Senior citizens and those with accessibility needs can request uberASSIST rides starting Tuesday.
Bengaluru: To address day-to-day requirements of senior citizens and differently-abled passengers, Uber on Tuesday launched uberACCESS and uberASSIST in support with Mphasis as a CSR initiative.
Senior citizens and those with accessibility needs can request uberASSIST rides starting Tuesday and will soon be able to use the forward-facing wheelchair transport option.
Trained and certified by Diversity and Equal Opportunity Centre (DEOC), all drivers are equipped with required skills to assist passengers with accessibility needs as well as those who need additional assistance during their ride. UberACCESS offers 50 retrofitted vehicles on-demand and uberASSIST, a fleet of 500 vehicles, designed to provide assistance to senior citizens and people with accessibility needs.
