Kasargod: App to keep track of pregnant tribal women

Purpose is to continuously monitor the health condition of the woman and her baby.

KASARGOD: Kasargod district tribal development office is all set to launch an Android app to create awareness among pregnant tribal women, track pre and postnatal care and immunisation. It would be piloted in Parappa block panchayat.
“Under the scheme, the progress of pregnant women and health of newborn will be tracked every month,” said district tribal development officer P. Krishnaprakash. ST promoters, health workers and Anganwadi workers have been roped in to implement the scheme to be monitored by the district collector, ST development officer and district medical officer (DMO).

ST promoters would be provided with an Android mobile phone installed with the app, training to collect data, vaccines and food supplements. "The purpose is to continuously monitor the health condition of the woman and her baby. Rs 10 lakh has been set aside for the scheme," said DMO Dr A.P. Dinesh Kumar. "It would cover all tribal people in the next phase, to have a continuous overhaul of various diseases afflicting them, its frequency, treatment, etc.,” It has also allotted Rs 13 lakh to control tuberculosis in tribal settlements.
