Microsoft beats Apple in the battle of desktop OS
Windows beats macOS by a huge margin and dominates the PC market.
The battle for domination in the desktop operating system has been won by Microsoft’s Windows OS for a long time. With a recent survey done on this topic, Windows confirms its domination once again for the past year.
According to NetMarketShare, Windows has been dominating the OS market by 91.35 percent – a shadowing win over Apple macOS’ 6.40 percent. The top Windows version right now is Windows 7, which has a market share of 49.46 percent, while the most popular version of Apple’s operating system is at 10.12 and running on 3.59 percent of PCs. In fact, the top macOS version has fewer users than Windows XP, which has nearly double its market share at 5.66 percent.
It seems that Windows is safe from its competition by a huge margin, despite claims of the desktop PC market stagnating or either going down. Even with new and upcoming competition from the world of mobile giants, i.e. Google’s Chrome OS laptops, Windows is here to stay and dominate the market, thanks to its wide availability and the ability to support old software. With the upcoming November Creator’s Update, Windows will find even more favour with the PC buying crowd for its modern user interface and undisclosed new features.
