How to get dark mode on WhatsApp for desktop
This mod is also an open source project which basically means that even you can check and scan throughout the source code.
Popular WhatsApp messenger has a staggering one and half billion or more users worldwide. And eventually, at least a couple of them may have gotten bored of the same old light olive greenish coloured user interface.
Now, there a lot of third-party sources that will let you change the theme of your most used messaging app while you may choose not to because of, Hello! ‘data privacy issues!’ yes, we understand and it's being very reasonable. The last time we heard the Facebook-owned messaging app working on a dark-themed UI was back in March 2019 and we yet await the development.
A lot of us use WhatsApp on a desktop because of various reasons and of course, it’s the same light coloured boring UI over here again. To spice it up, an XDA member m4heshd has created a styling mod for WhatsApp for desktop. This mod basically themes up the WhatsApp desktop client with a dark coloured theme which is way cooler than the default UI theme of the messenger.
The XDA member’s mod with its NodeJS installation script targets elements that are responsible for the messengers UI and it does not get in contact with other codes responsible for the working of the client. This mod is also an open-source project which basically means that even you can check and scan throughout the source code.
Still having difficulty trusting it, the developer has also given an option of building the installation script autonomously. And just in case, if you hate it, the script automatically creates a backup of the original WhatsApp source so that reverting back to the default UI is easier.
