Google could launch Sailfish OS on smartwatches
The new OS would be called Sailfish Watch and is perfectly suited for small screens.
Finnish company Jolla’s Sailfish OS is mostly known for smartphones and tablets. However, reports suggest that the company is working hard towards making its Sailfish OS flexible for smartwatches as well.
This new OS would be called Sailfish Watch and is perfectly suited for small screens. Jolla has already started testing the new OS internally and ported the Sailfish Watch OS on an Android smartwatch, reported Softpedia.
Jolla said that its Sailfish Watch draws inspiration from an existing smartwatch OS called Asteroid OS led by Florent Revest. The Sailfish Watch essentially offers a main view reserved for showing time and its Homescreen has been organized in the same way as the Sailfish OS. The left-hand side will be occupied by the standard Sailfish-style, horizontal carousel with Events. Moreover, all major setting shortcuts have been included in the Events category.
Users will be able to take calls and receive messages from smartwatch as soon as the watch is paired with a Sailfish smartphone.
