Apple AR headset tipped to launch earlier than expected
Quanta, a company that is responsible for assembling of Apple products said that an AR headset will be ready for launch no later than 2019.
Catcher, a company that provides metal frames and chassis for Apple iPhones and iPads, has revealed that company will be producing chassis for a new product line.
Some analysts believe that the company might be making some part of Apple’s rumoured AR headset. According to former Piper Jaffray analyst and current hedge honcho Gene Munster, this device will be bigger than the iPhone.
Munster and other analysts expect the new AR headset will see the light of day in 2020. Apple CEO, Tim Cook also said that the technology is still in the development phase and is not mature enough to be launched soon.
Yet, Catcher's chairman notes that early 2018 will feature a high utilisation rate due to the new product line it will be supplying.
Quanta, a company that is responsible for assembling of Apple products, recently received licenses to manufacture AR optical cameras sourcing components from Israeli-AR firm Lumus.
Earlier, Quanta said that an AR headset will be ready for launch no later than 2019. While the company didn’t necessarily speak about an Apple product, the latter’s AR headset is rumoured to carry a model number T2888, and will run a new OS dubbed as the reality Operating System, (rOS).
