Techies go digital this Onam

The IT parks, including Government Cyber Park, UL Cyber Park and HiLite Business Park, have mooted the new generation Onam programmes.

Digital and flat painting is an advanced art sector in IT and hence the tool has been used to create Onam pookalam designs.

KOZHIKODE: Onam is also going digital.   The techies of Kozhikode  will organise digital flower carpet competitions and digital Onam games this time. They have also planned to revive the bygone customs and traditions  by conducting  all the  programmes,  including Onam sadya, pookalam, Onakali and other events associated with the festival.   The IT parks,  including Government Cyber Park, UL Cyber Park and HiLite Business Park,  have  mooted the new generation Onam programmes.  

“As the world is  changing and all the sectors are witnessing technological advancement, we thought of celebrating the festival in a techie style,”  said Vishnudath Kuniyil, employee at Acodez IT company. Not just Onam, all other festivals will also be celebrated here with the help of  technology. Digital and flat painting is an advanced art sector in IT and hence the tool has been used to create Onam  pookalam designs. 

“We will also give importance to the 3D images of such pookalam designed by our staff,” he  added. “We have designed ‘Gottikali’ or ‘marble play’  for the celebration,”  said M. Aliriza, Flewhub company CEO.  Innovation plus tradition will be the theme for  the celebration this year, he added.  “We have also made a trail app that will help you  customise patterns, figures and colours used in pookalam,”  he said.
