“What kind of doughnut are you?” A chocolate frosted one with sprinkles of course, Buzzfeed says so.

Long gone are the days when people used to sit with a Cosmo in hand, doing a personality quiz. They are now replaced by quirky, cheeky and imaginative quizzes on the Internet by websites like Buzzfeed and PlayBuzz which are all the rage today.

Though these personality quizzes get more bizarre  each day, their popularity is through the roof. After all, I need to know which Bollywood actor I should marry!

With people taking quizzes like “What kind of chair are you?” to “Which celebrity cat are you?” the quizzes are smashing traffic records and generating more Facebook comment threads than any other viral posts.

“Being the visual creatures we are, when we come across a post that says, ‘Which city should you actually live in?’ with a picture of the Eiffel tower staring at us, our inquisitive nature makes us click the link. And when the result is Paris or LA, you end up sharing the result on Facebook,” says Avani Shetty who is known among her friends for her quiz addiction.

For Nihal Sajid, a young professional in the city, it is a way to kill time. He says, “When I take the quizzes at work, there is a tendency to compare the results with my colleagues. Repeatedly taking the same quiz to get a desired answer is also something we are all guilty of doing.”

Keerthana Lakshmipathy, a college student says, “Even when we are busy and time deprived, we as a generation seem to be bored. This is  an instant fix to our boredom and a satisfying way to deal with it. I can’t seem to stay away from them even during exam time. A new quiz is like a shiny object. I get all excited!” But will this trend die off soon? Is there a thing as one too many Beyonce quizzes? Only time will tell.
