French man accuses Uber of breaking up his marriage
He has asked for $48 million in damages.
Some of the most common reasons couples give for their divorce include lack of commitment, infidelity, marrying too young or having unrealistic expectations among others. However, in a bizarre and mildly-amusing set of circumstances, a French businessman has sued Uber for causing his marriage to break up.
According to a report by French news site Le Figaro, a notification bug in Uber allowed the French businessman’s wife to spy on him. The notifications of his Uber account kept arriving to the wife’s phone even after he was logged out of Uber. Thanks to the notification bug in the Uber app, the wife was able to figure out that he was lying about certain things.
The bug is apparently present in most iPhones that use to outdated version of the Uber app. The December 15th update has fixed the issue.
The man has asked for around $48 million in damages and the case should head to court next month. Uber hasn’t released an official comment on this issue as yet.
