Instagram will allow creators to upload 4K videos.

Instagram is reportedly set to roll out its long-form video format on June 20.
The company is hosting a special event this month where it is expected to unveil the new hub, TechCrunch reported.

Instagram's long-form video hub is said to allow creators to upload 4K resolution full-screen videos longer than the current 60-second limit. These videos will also allow for monetisation.

There are a few more details that have been divulged by TechCrunch. According to their sources, Instagram will allow creators to upload 4K, full-screen, vertically oriented videos that are much longer than the current 60-second limit. These videos will be available from a centralised hub that features curated sections of popular videos as well as an option to continue watching clips one has already begun watching. The social media giant has begun meeting with social media stars and content houses to formulate launch partners for the event.

The quality of the videos is said to be that of those found on YouTube where the content is shot using good cameras. The report adds that most of the videos will not be of Netflix quality.

Instagram will allow creators to add a link that can be visited by swiping up on a video in order to drive traffic to their other social networks, websites or e-commerce stores. Although Instagram has not yet finalised this feature, they plan to let content creators earn money off their long-format videos. This could happen through ads at the beginning of the video or during the video. This would allow creators to potentially earn a share of the revenue.

Instagram could also announce that it has passed 1 billion followers. This announcement could be a great way to entice content creators to move on to Instagram.
