The MT2523 is world's first system-in-package (SiP) to offer GPS, dual-mode Bluetooth Low Energy, and a MIPI-supported high-resolution mobile screen.

MediaTek India has announced the availability of two new System on Chips (SoCs) specifically targeted towards the health, fitness and wearables market in the country. The MT2511 is MediaTek’s first bio-sensing analog front-end (AFE) chip designed for health and fitness devices, and the MT2523 is designed for active and fitness smart watches, also the world’s first system-in-package (SiP) to offer GPS, dual-mode Bluetooth Low Energy, and a MIPI-supported high-resolution mobile screen. End products powered by MT2511 and MT2523 are expected to be introduced in the India market by early 2017.

The specifications for the SoCs are given below:

MT2511

The MT2511 is a power efficient chipset that is inbuilt with a heart beat interval technology and 4KB SRAM for optimizing the overall system power consumption for sleep heart rate monitoring.

The devices embedded with this technology can access bio signal acquisition through electrocardiography (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) simultaneously. It is designed on an LED boost driver circuit for saving layout space there by delivering a complete system-in-package (SiP) for wearables with GPS, dual-mode Bluetooth LE, support for high-resolution screens and a ARM Cortex-M4 CPU

MT2523

The MT2523 consists of micro controller unit (PMU) which is an ARM Cortex-M4F CPU due to which it helps deliver signal processing functionality at low power and low cost with ease-of-use benefits.

The MT2523 is embedded with a GPS, dual-mode Bluetooth, and a MIPI-supported high-resolution mobile screen. In comparison to other wearables, devices powered by the MT2523 can last more than a week on one battery charge.
