Xiaomi's dominance intact during Q2 2018, new sales chart reveal

We reported in an earlier article that Samsung and Xiaomi are competing closely in terms of sales and, together, they hold 60 per cent market share in India. The report was the outcome of Counterpoint's analysis. After this report creating a stir, a new report from IDC says that Xiaomi is leading with a bigger margin.
By shipping around 10 million units of its smartphones, Xiaomi grabbed 29.7 per cent market share during Q2 2018. On the other hand, despite growing considerably in the last two years, Samsung's share stuck at 23.9 per cent and shipped 8 million units during the same period. Notably, OPPO's share is lesser than anything reported earlier.

Coming to the continued success of Xiaomi, the smartphones which have been majorly contributing to its thriving are models including Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. It was due to commendable sales of these phones that the Chinese brand gained such popularity and user base.
