Upgraded Hawkeye mobile application now covers Cyberabad
The app, which was launched in Hyderabad a year ago, has more than 2 lakh downloads and will soon be launched across Telangana.
Hyderabad: The Hawkeye mobile application was launched in Cyberabad East and West commissionerates on Thursday. Cyberabad West commissioner Naveen Chand and Cyberabad East commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat launched the app together.
The app, which was launched in Hyderabad a year ago, has more than 2 lakh downloads and will soon be launched across Telangana. Mr Naveen Chand said that the app was very helpful for women working in the IT corridor and many employees have been using it extensively to receive updates on traffic issues etc.
The command control room which monitors grievances registered on the app, will very soon be staffed round-the-clock. “By using such citizen-friendly applications, citizens themselves will have an important role to play in ensuring safety and security in the city. We will work in close coordination with the other two commissionerates for better results,” added Mr Chand.
Mr Bhagawat said that such apps and social media would boost police-people interaction and serve as an active interface between the two. “Unlike in the past, people are coming out to lodge complaints at police stations. And with apps like Hawkeye, it has become easier for them to register their grievances,” he said.
The Hawkeye Telangana State Police app is available on Android currently and will be made available on iOS within a week.
In addition to the existing features of the app regarding traffic violations, crimes, violations by police, suggestions etc. a few more features have been added. While registering details of servants or drivers in the app, their Aadhaar details too should be updated and the app will integrate the details with the main server.
The app will also help users who buy used mobiles or vehicles to avoid buying stolen vehicles. Instant notifications on traffic updates will be sent to registered users.
