The Fraunhoffer Institute in Germany, where the MP3 standard for compressing and digitizing audio records was created 25 years ago, recently announced that it was terminating its licensing. Newer codes like AAC and MPEG-H, delivered better audio quality more efficiently, it said. That does not mean the death of your music player or speaker.
