The boom of gaming parlours in the city has youngsters all riled up! Gone are the days when kids used to huddle up in their homes and obsess over gameboys and wait in line to use consoles.

Taking gaming a step further, a number of venues have started turning gaming into a live interactive experience!

Gaming consoles are not a thing of the past yet, according to Vishvesh Seth, an avid gamer.

“Most gaming arenas in the city still have consoles like the PS3 and Xbox but are slowly moving towards newer technology like virtual reality games, which are much more interactive,” he explains.

“They also play a big role in improving learning experiences for serious gamers,” adds Vishvesh.

Virtual reality games are certainly the new fad among gamers today.

“Most places offer a relatively normal gaming experience with consoles and joysticks. But we have taken it a step further, introducing virtual reality games. For example, in the football game, the player kicks the ball and there is a virtual goalie at the end of the room who blocks it. Similarly with cricket, there is a bowling machine with a screen, where the player can select any international bowler to bat against!” says Sandeep about Smaash, which is quite the rage among youngsters today.

These games are not only more enriching but also much more immersive for avid gamers.

“Virtual reality games are becoming quite popular among youngsters today because they are much more interactive and give gamers a feel of what it’s like to actually be out there and on the field while playing games. It’s a whole different experience all together which not only youngsters, but also older people seem to love,” explains Navin Rajendran, about cricket, basketball, football and even racing virtual reality games that seem to be hitting it off among avid gamers in the city.

“We gave quite a few games like a special 3D dance room but plan on introducing more such virtual games soon, since there is a huge demand for it,” says Navin, the CEO of Gamineasy, a popular gaming arcade in the city.

On the other hand, a number of places are also introducing live experience games, which are becoming increasingly popular too!

“The players are put into a locked room and have to solve a mystery in order to get out. Through this, they also get to play specific characters like Sherlock or Watson. So it’s more of a challenge and an exercise on the brain,” says Hareesh Mothi of Breakout, the first of its kind arena in the city.

“Since it’s an alternate reality kind of situation, it is a big hit among adventure and mystery lovers,” adds the CEO about the live gaming experience.

So all you gaming addicts, it’s time to get off your couches and head into the almost real — virtual world of gaming and exercise your brain with mind boggling mysteries!
