Now use one WhatsApp account on multiple phones
HYDERABAD: If you have ever wished to use one WhatsApp account on multiple phones simultaneously, there is finally some good news for you. Meta-owned messaging service announced on Tuesday that users will now be allowed to log in to one WhatsApp account from multiple phones.
Earlier, it only allowed users to log in from browsers, other computers, Android tablets while being logged in on a primary device.
The new service described by WhatsApp as “One WhatsApp account, across multiple phone” will allow users to log in from four phones at once and the services will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
To set up a secondary phone, users will just have to download the application and select the “Link to existing account” option instead of feeding in the details of the already existing accounts. Selecting the new linking option will throw up a QR code on the secondary phone which has to be scanned by WhatsApp on the primary phone using the “link new device” option.
The new feature is aimed at small businesses which have multiple employees using the same official account. It could also be a handy feature for those who use multiple devices and wish to have WhatsApp on all phones using the same account.
Personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted while each linked device connects to WhatsApp independently, maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption.
While it is not necessary for users to stay online to use WhatsApp, linked secondary devices will be logged out automatically if the application is not used on the secondary device for over 14 days.
