Opera Mini exclusively redesigned for India
It now includes local content cards in partnership with Bollywood Hungama along with video download feature for offline viewing.
After conducting extensive focus group research in India, Opera discovered that Bollywood and sports are the most popular categories of content that users like to read from the browser. This insight was applied to the latest version of Opera Mini browser that has been exclusively launched for Android users in India. Opera Mini users can now access content from Bollywood Hungama and sports updates by Sportskeeda from the start page of the browser.
‘With this association, we look forward to bringing to Opera Mini users Bollywood Hungama’s wide content offering of nearly 50 Bollywood stories a day, over 1,00,000 celebrity photos and wallpapers, 15,000 videos, and 50,000+ songs along with a repertoire of Bollywood movies and a celebrity database from 1931 onwards,’said Siddhartha Roy, CEO – Hungama.com.
In addition to content from the new partners, Opera Mini already has a news feature that displays articles across categories such as News, Business, Technology, Travel, Lifestyle, and so on. Users can customize this news feed by choosing their preferred categories and display language. Moreover, the new Opera Mini also features a built-in media player with the ability to download videos from popular social networking and news sites directly onto users’ smartphone or memory card.
'Speed is of utmost importance for users on slower mobile networks. To improve the video watching experience, first we added the video boost feature, which compresses videos and reduces buffering. With today’s launch, we add a video download option so that users can enjoy their videos any time, even when they are offline. This new version will provide a more engaging browsing experience to users,' said Sunil Kamath, Vice President for South and Southeast Asia at Opera.
