Xiaomi to host first MIUI Partnership Day in India
This is Xiaomi's bid to customise MIUI for the Indian consumers.
Xiaomi will be hosting its first MIUI Partnership Day in Gurugram, India on 7 November 2017. Through this, the company seeks to work with developers in the country to further localise the MIUI user experience. The event will enable developers to learn more about MIUI and learn about potential collaborations.
The event will cover topics about Xiaomi’s Internet services strategy including
products and services, monetisation, the entire MIUI ecosystem and investments.
Xiaomi has already has an R&D team in India from the last few years and has introduced several localized features such as Copy OTP, Dual Apps, Second Space, Smart IRCTC ticket SMS, etc. They have also added support for 13 Indic languages to increase its familiarity.
Recently, Xiaomi has sold 25 million smartphones in the Indian market in the last three years, with the Redmi Note 4 selling around five million units within six months of its launch. With further localised features, the company expects MIUI to become a widely adopted custom Android platform for all major app developers in India.
