Here comes a faster USB 3.2 with dual-channel data transfer
The new USB standard will enable faster data transfer speeds and will work with existing USB 3.0 cables as well.
The world of technology is moving towards a wireless future, which is evident from smartphone manufacturers ditching the headphone jack in favour of wireless headphones. Tech giants say that wireless is the future for faster connections and practicality. This has led the wired accessory manufacturers looking for ways to improve the technology to give one last hurrah to the reign of cables before they vanish from the world. Therefore, we now have a faster USB 3.2.
Yes, the USB 3.0 Promoter Group with Apple, HP, Intel, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, and others among its members, has announced the new USB 3.2 format. The format is meant primarily for the USB Type-C standard and comes with ‘multi-lane’ operation. In plain English, it means that the USB 3.2 has the capability to transfer data simultaneously on two channels in the same bandwidth. Therefore, if you have a USB 3.0 supported device that goes up to 5Gbps transfer speeds, then the USB 3.2 will have two 5Gbps data channels in the same space.
The best thing about this new USB format is that older USB 3.0 cables get to reap the benefits of faster data transfer speeds. However, it is to be noted that manufacturers need to support the new format in order to let older hardware attain the benefits.
This shows that the old-school wired connection can still be developed further to provide a faster connection. We know that wires are a better medium to transfer data with lesser signal loss compared to the wireless medium.
