Have a look at the latest Star Wars trailer from a 1984 Apple 2c
A Indonesian artist has recreated the complete trailer in 1980's computer graphics with 48 floppy disks and a KoalaPad.
The latest Star Wars trailer is a great spectacle to behold, thanks to modern day computer graphics. CGI has a come a long way to making sci-fi films and videos look as close to reality. However, Wahyu Ichwandardi wanted to do a version of the latest trailer of the Star Wars flick that would resemble a 1980’s CGI film. So he did that by using an Apple computer from the 80’s.
Ichwandardi took a vintage Apple 2C desktop and a KoalaPad drawing peripheral. He also took help of the 80’s popular bitmap paint program called the Dazzle Draw. He painstakingly drew every frame from the trailer by hand. To store and compile the whole thing, he had to take help of 48 floppy disks, each with 140KB of memory and produced 288 image files which totalled as astonishing 6MB in size
The result is simply unparalleled, with the whole of the Star Wars trailer showing in green monochrome, albeit with extremely lower frame rates. Hats off Wahyu Ichwandardi.
