Make Facebook your next landlord
New real estate developments under the ownership of Facebook are set to take place, starting from Silicon Valley.
The social networking giant recently proposed a plant to build at least 1,500 units of housing near Menlo Park, California. The apartments are intended for public, out of which 15 per cent will be reserved for low and middle-class income families and public servants like teachers.
While, Facebook will only be planning and designing the units; a third party will be in charge of developing the buildings. The expansion would take place at the Menlo Park headquarters and could even bring 6,500 new employees to the suburbs of South San Francisco.
‘Facebook is committed to being a good neighbor," a Facebook spokesperson tells Tech Insider. "We understand that our growth affects the everyday lives of our neighbors, and we want to be respectful and thoughtful about how we approach our expansion.’
This move came as a result of Facebook’s desperate need for hometown’s support, according to reports by the Wall Street Journal. The unnamed housing project’s opening dates have not been announced, yet.
