Indian actor-producer Farhan Akhtar launches an app for Bollywood fans
In hopes to change the lack of resourceful apps like IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes in India, Farhan Akhtar to launch Flickbay.
Indian actor, producer and director, Farhan Akhtar to launch Bollywood’s first ‘official’ app, Flickbay for movie buffs. This is the second such Bollywood-centric app since the release of actress Sonam Kapoor’s celebrity app a few months ago.
More about Flickbay:
Flickbay claims to be a movie database that will include new trailers, movie reviews, ratings, songs, real-time news and box office numbers as well. Furthermore, it will also contain details of showtimes for movies in theatres and on TV. Future plans also include the division for every movie and actor along with ratings, trailers, box office collections and other such information.
Flickbay also plans to introduce a system of rewards for consuming content. Rewards like redeemable movie tickets, autographed merchandise and film memorabilia among others are something one can expect.
The data provided on Flickbay will only focus on the latest movies for now. Older movies database is yet to be updated.
‘Working in the movie space, I realized that there was no platform which combined everything about Bollywood under one roof,’ Flickbay founder Vishal Ramchandani told Mashable. ‘One had to go to individual websites, blogs etc. to get their daily dose of Bollywood content.’
Social network will naturally be integrated in order to promote respected lists of reviews, movies, songs and trailers.
