Mediatek announces new Helio P23 and P30 chipsets
The new GPUs within will move to a higher ARM MALI-G71 processors.
Mobile chipset giant MediaTek has announced two new SoCs for smartphones, which will cater to the mid-range market. The new chips pronounced as Helio P23 and P30 are upgrades to the P20/P25 series from last year and will retain the same octa-core Cortex-A53 processor architecture.
However, what gets better are the graphics processing units and the modems. While the P23 will be available world-wide, the P30 will start in China, post the next quarter. The Helio series is presently the only chipsets that are successfully being adopted by smartphone vendors, and MediaTek is marketing the new chips as Premium Performance with a lower price point.
While there’s not much of a change from the previous generation chips, these would relatively work on a similar performance to the P20-series. However, the new GPUs within will move to a higher ARM MALI-G71 processors. What will be better in the new upgrade is video, camera and LTE modem performance.
