India's first electric scooter showcased at GES in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Entrepreneurs from across the world, including Ivanka Trump and her delegation, got to see a model of the S340, India’s first smart electric scooter. The scooter will be available in the market by mid-2018 at a cost of around Rs 1 lakh. 

The scooter has been developed by Bengaluru-based techie Tarun Mehta, the co-founder of Ather Energy. “It is India’s first smart electric scooter, and it has been built for a future that is inevitably electric and seamlessly connected. The two-wheeler runs on a lithium-ion battery pack design. It has a touchscreen dashboard that displays the speed, the amount of fuel consumed, and the position of the vehicle. It can be used in flood-affected areas as the inner parts are covered with a tough plastic. The vehicle can travel up to 60 km on a single charge,” he says. 

The vehicle has an inbuilt global positioning system, and it can travel for up to 30 minutes while partially-submerged. This feature will be especially useful in areas that experience frequent flooding. The innovator adds that the scooter can attain a speed of 72 kmph.

The touchscreen dashboard integrates the vehicle with its firmware. It has been built to synchronise with the company’s cloud database and predictive analytics layer. This will allow the firmware to study the vehicle’s condition and even suggest the replacement of parts when needed.

A 5D printer for defence, healthcare  

Ethereal Machine’s Halo, a 5D Printer, the only Indian company that won the Best of Innovation CES 2018 award, was put to display at HICC.  
The printer that does the job of both subtraction (cutting) and addition (assemble). 

Mr Kaushik Mudda, a co-founder, said the machine could be used in the defence, aerospace, healthcare sectors.

In the defence sector it can manufacture small parts of a heavy duty vehicle and in the healthcare sector it can make molds for syringes and medical equipment. The machine has hit the market 20 days ago.
