JioPhone pre-booking to resume soon, deliveries to be delayed: report
The phone is now expected to be available in second week of September.
Pre-bookings for Reliance Jio’s JioPhone is likely to resume in 3-4 days. However, the deliveries for the booked models will be delayed due to 'heavy demands', an India Today report, citing various Jio retailers, has claimed.
Last week, Reliance Jio suspended the pre-booking of its 4G feature phone due to ‘overwhelming response’ it claims to receive from customers across India. However, the company continued taking registrations for the model.
In a banner, posted on Jio’s official website jio.com, the company thanked “million of Indians,” and announced suspension of pre-booking for the JioPhone stating, "We will inform you when the pre-booking resumes."
In statement to India Today, retailers have claimed that the Reliance Jio was previously going to start the sale of the device from the first week of September, but due to some delay in the backend, the sale for the handset will start a little late.
The phone is now expected to be available in second week of September.
Meanwhile, those who successfully placed the order can check for updates by dialling ‘18008908900’. Customers can also view status in MyJio app under Manage Voucher section.
Those who are unaware, pre-orders for the JioPhone will be accepted for Rs 500, which will be adjusted against security deposit of Rs 1,500 at the time of delivery. To recall, the JioPhone features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, FM radio, torch, headphone jack, SD card slot and an alphanumeric keyboard. It supports digital payment via NFC, 4G VoLTE calls and data and a suite of Jio apps, which includes Jio Cinema, Jio Music and more.
