Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad killer could launch with iPhone 11
The new 10.2-inch iPad will effectively kill off the 9.7-inch iPad if reports are anything to go by.
When it comes to tablets, Apple is the undisputed leader and for those eager for the Cupertino-based brand’s next iPad, then the wait isn’t long. A fresh report from Asia details that Apple’s new 10.2-inch iPad will be the successor to the 9.7-inch iPad and it could make its debut as soon as September.
While the source, Digitimes has been inaccurate at times when it comes to releasing cycles; they have a decent record when it comes to predicting upcoming products launches. As per the report, Apple will be releasing the 10.2-inch iPad in the “late third quarter.”
If this information is accurate, then Apple may unveil the 10.2-inch iPad alongside the iPhone 11 at Apple’s September event. While the iPhone will dominate the most part of the event, injecting some life into the event in the form of a new iPad form factor will be a much-needed reprieve.
As per recent rumours, Apple is also planning to launch new iPad Pro models this year and expectations are that it will launch during a separate event in October. However, Apple could surprise the world by launching new iPhones, iPads and a 16-inch MacBook all at a single event.
The last time Apple updated the 9.7-inch iPad was in 2018. Apple also launched an iPad Air and an iPad mini this year and both tablets came with support for the Apple Pencil. These tablets have been extremely popular in comparison with the iPad Pro which costs a significant bit extra.
