Xiaomi unveils two new Redmi smartphones in India
The Redmi Y1 comes at a price tag of Rs 8,999 and the Redmi Y1 Lite will be available at a price of Rs 6,999.
Xiaomi has announced the launch of a new Redmi Y series — Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite in India. With the new series, the company aims to cater the selfie-obsessed generation. Both the smartphones will be available via Amazon and will go on sale on November 8 at 12 noon.
The Redmi Y1 comes at a price tag of Rs 8,999 for the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM / 64GB storage variant will be selling for Rs 10,999. On the other hand, the Redmi Y1 Lite comes only in one configuration with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage with a price tag of Rs 6,999.
Talking of the Redmi Y1, the device is touted to come with Beautify 3.0 feature and will incorporate a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The smartphone comes in an Aluminium alloy body and features a 5.5-inch HD display 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB. The device runs on the latest MIUI 9 on top of Android Nougat.
The Redmi Y1 comes equipped with a 16MP selfie lens alongside an LED flash, while there is a13MP primary camera with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-focus). On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other standard features. It is backed by a 3080mAh battery.
The Redmi Y1 Lite, on the other hand, features a 5.5-inch HD screen, MIUI 9 software and a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. The dual Nano SIM phone supports storage expansion up to 128GB. On the photography front, the Redmi Y1 Lite sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and PDAF, while the front camera has a 5MP sensor. The Redmi Y1 Lite is fuelled with 3080mAh and features an IR blaster as well.
