Huawei launches Mate 9 phones with dual camera, Kirin 960

Fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery, the Mate 9 handsets will be powered by Android latest operating systemNougat 7.0.

Huawei has launched its much awaited smartphone, the Mate 9, in two variants—a standard 1080p full HD display Mate 9 and a Porsche-branded edition with 2K curved display (rumoured to be Mate 9 Pro).

The standard Huawei Mate 9 variant features a 5.9-inch display, while the Porsche-branded variant has a 5.5-inch 2K curved display. Both the smartphones are powered by Huawei’s latest chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 960 which uses four 2.4GHz Cortex-A73 cores and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 cores and supports ARM Mali-G71MP8 for improved graphic and gaming performance.

The 5.9-inch Mate 9 features 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128 GB of internal storage at a price of 699 Euro (approx. Rs 52,000), while the 5.5-inch Porsche Design has 6GB RAM and offers 256GB of memory storage priced at 1,395 Euro (approx. Rs 1,03,060).

Fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery, the Mate 9 handsets will be powered by Android latest operating system—Nougat 7.0, with EMUI 5.0 OS.

In terms of camera, both Huawei’s Mate 9 handsets sports Leica-branded dual camera setup with a 20MP and a 12MP rear camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera.

The Mate 9 measures 156.9x78.9x7.9mm in dimensions and weighs 190g.On the other hand the Mate 9 Porsche Design measures 152x75x7.5mm in dimensions and weighs 169g.

In terms of connectivity, the Mate 9 smartphones supports Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/GNSS, DLNA and NFC. However, the Mate 9 has USB 2.0 Type-C, while the Mate 9 Porsche Design sports USB 3.0 Type-C.
