Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ set to launch on January 10th

Both the phones to feature Samsung's first dual-front cameras for the selfie enthusiasts.

Samsung seems to be gearing up to launch its mid-rangers Galaxy A8 and A8+ for the Indian market. The company has already sent out media invites for a January 10th, 2018 launch event. These cheaper substitutes to Galaxy S8’s of 2017 will be launched as an Amazon Exclusive.

Both the phones feature Samsung’s first dual-front camera with 16MP + 8MP sensors for those selfie enthusiasts with an f/1.9 aperture. The phones are equipped with 5.7-inch and 6-inch Infinity Displays with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Further the rear cameras of these devices feature a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture with dual LED flash, which are capable of recording 1080p@30fps. Similar to Galaxy Note 8, Live Focus feature is available on these devices to adjust the background blur after capturing the image.

Galaxy A8 has a single 4GB RAM variant with 32/64GB SSD, while the Galaxy A8+ comes in two variants — 4GB/6GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB SSD. Both devices support expandable storage up to 256GB micros-SD slots. Both variants are equipped with Exynos 7885 Chipset and 2.2GHz CPUs, Mali-G71 GPUs. These devices are fuelled by 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries respectively and are shipped with Android 7.1.1(Nougat) out-of-the-box.

The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back, below the rear camera sensor. With the IP68 certification, the devices are also water and dust resistant. Connectivity features include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. The Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ might be priced at Rs 37,700 and Rs 45,000 respectively. Both these devices will be available in Black, Orchid Grey, Gold, and Blue colour options.
