Samsung contracts SGS to investigate reports of Note 7 catching fire.

Samsung announced to recall about 2.5 million units of Galaxy Note 7, just two weeks after the phone was launched.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 sales at Verizon and Sprint started just a few days ago. The company experienced a sale of up to 45,000 units in the first three days itself.

Just when we thought Samsung was gaining momentum in terms of reviving its days of glory, another woman from Southern Seoul stated that the battery inside her Galaxy Note 7 started melting after the device was charged overnight. Her husband was quick to record a video of the whole incident. Here’s the video:

Samsung then contracted SGS – world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company to investigate the case. The device was apparently scanned with a CT and X-ray as well.

SGS finally concluded that the incident was caused by an ‘external shock.’ In other words, the battery inside wasn’t the cause of the melt.
