Nokia 9 PureView promo video hits the web, confirms penta-camera layout
The minute-long video features the 5-camera layout on the rear that's designed by Zeiss optics.
Over the last few weeks, there were a ton of rumours suggesting that before the end of the year, HMD Global would be launching their next flagship, the Nokia 9 PureView. However, to generate enough buzz for the recently launched Nokia 8.1, it appears that the brand has pushed back the release date till early this year. From the latest leak, we can see that the brand was further along than previously thought as it appears that a promotional video of the handset had also been shot that falls in line with all the features that were rumoured to launch with the handset.
As per a leak by MySmartPrice, we now have a look at the first promotional video of the Nokia 9 PureView and its Penta-camera layout on the rear. This handset lines up with the leaked images that have been floating around the interweb and with it we learn about some interesting features that the handset will boast. Firstly, the handset will run on Android 9.0 Pie and secondly, it will feature a 5-camera layout with Zeiss Optics. The device once launched will have an edge-to-edge 5.99-inch 2K HDR PureDisplay and sport an in-display fingerprint scanner like most of the current flagships such as the Vivo NEX and OnePlus 6T.
From the leaked promo video, Nokia teases that 5 shots can be captured simultaneously while in taking 10x more light than a traditional smartphone camera sensor. An interesting feature here is that after all the shots are captured, the image can be refocused using Google Photos.
The Nokia 9 PureView will also be Qi compatible which means that it will support wireless charging. The handset is powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC, the same one used in the current crop of flagships from Samsung, OnePlus and LG. Paired with the SoC will be 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. As of now, this looks like the only configuration it will be available in.
As to when the handset will make its official debut is not yet know; however, we expect it to be officially announced at MWC 2019 which takes place at the end of February. However, with CES just around the corner, it could be teased at the event as well.
