HTC shows off Vive-branded smartphone 'U' ahead of launch

Taiwan-based HTC is rumoured to bring a Vive-branded smartphones in the market focusing to create more VR experience for its customers.

Taiwan-based HTC is rumoured to bring a Vive-branded smartphones in the market focusing to create more VR experience for its customers.

HTC had teased to launch ‘U’ smartphone at an event on January 12. Rumours suggest that HTC is likely to launch three new handsets, namely HTC U Ultra, U Play and One X10. However, recent leak suggest that HTC may finally unveil the Vive-branded smartphone to bank on the popularity of its virtual reality headset.

A video about the Vive-branded HTC smartphone has been around since June 2016, but left unnoticed until now. On January 8, Leakster Evan Blass, posted the year-old video.

The video was once posted by an HTC videographer on Vimeo.

HTC already has a mobile app store for VR, Viveport M. However, the company doesn’t have hardware of its own to run the app.
