New MediaTek SoC to power the ASUS Zenpad tablet
The new processor will provide superior performance with greater power efficiency to the ASUS Zenpad tablet.
MediaTek today announced its new MT8176 system-on-chip was selected to power the recently released ASUS ZenPad 3S 10. MediaTek’s SoC gives ASUS ZenPad users exceptional experiences through a 2K display, making the tablet ideal for viewing high-resolution digital photos and FHD movies.
The ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 integrates MT8176’s multi-core architecture that combines two ARMCortex-A72 cores and four ARMCortex-A53 cores to provide superior performance with greater power efficiency. The SoC’s performance is further enhanced by a dual channel DRAM interface. With the Imagination Technologies PowerVR GX6250 GPU and a multi-standard video codec, the SoC is capable of meeting the growing demand for 4K Ultra HD content on mobile devices.
“With MT8176, MediaTek is bringing consumers 4K capabilities and TV-like viewing experiences to their mobile devices – a major step forward for the industry,” said Joe Chen, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer, MediaTek. “As users demand more and more from their mobile video, browsing experiences and battery life, we continue to innovate and lead the market.”
MT8176 also strengthens the ASUS ZenPad’s multimedia features with display quality. MediaTek’s MiraVision brings the picture quality of premium TVs to the ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 with highly flexible color, optimized scaling, smart sharpness and dynamic contrast.
“ASUS is pleased to continue its longstanding partnership with MediaTek by once again delivering cutting-edge technology to consumers around the world,” said Rangoon Chang, General Manager of Mobile Computing Business Unit 2 at ASUS. “This close collaboration helped us to develop the premium ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 – our best-ever ASUS ZenPad for entertainment.”
MediaTek SoCs are selected by global manufacturers to power their premium devices. Recent examples include Amazon’s Fire TVstreaming media player (MT8173) and the Sony Xperia XA (MediaTek Helio P10) smartphone. MT8176 is the latest on a long list of SoCs from MediaTek selected to power the ASUS ZenPad. The ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 is available in 26 countries now.
