Xiaomi to possibly launch a new smartphone series
The new series will reportedly compete with the likes of Oppo and Vivo for focussing on offline market-centric smartphones.
In what comes as a breath of fresh air for Xiaomi fans, the Chinese technology giant is reportedly considering to add a new smartphone lineup in its portfolio. The new series is expected to focus on models exclusively for the offline market and give a tough competition to the like of Oppo and Vivo.
Xiaomi has been trying to increase its presence in the offline market for the past few months, which is why it is opening its exclusive offline stores by the name of Mi Home. The report suggests that with this new series, Xiaomi intends to develop a strong offline network like Oppo and Vivo in its major markets.
The report also leaks a render of a smartphone, allegedly depicting a model from the new series. The photo shows a smartphone with a dual camera setup and replicating the look of the recently launched OnePlus 5 and OPPO R11.
If the report turns out to be true, then Xiaomi’s alleged new smartphone series will not only pose a challenge to similar offerings from OPPO and Vivo but also to established offline players like Samsung and HTC in markets like India.
Xiaomi’s Mi Home offline store in Bengaluru attracted a healthy business on the very first day of its opening two months ago. Their existing smartphone portfolio is constantly posting record-breaking numbers for the brand on the online market.
