Mi MIX 2S renders show an iPhone X-beating bezel-less design
The leak also claims a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8GB of RAM and a dual camera setup.
Xiaomi has been lately enrolled into the MWC 2018 rumour belt, with two of its upcoming flagship smartphones expected to break the cover — the Mi MIX 2S and the Mi 7. While there’s no confirmed information on either of the two’s immediate launch at the event, new leaks unearthed from China’s Weibo have shown official renderings of the Mi MIX 2S in all its glory. Surprisingly, most of the rumours surrounding the MIX 2S have become a reality.
The Mi MIX 2S’ render shows a very familiar profile to the Mi MIX 2 launched last year. However, the bottom lip has diminished and a new camera notch is seen present on the top-right corner. The notch is, however, very small when compared to the one on the iPhone X, thereby making the MIX 2S utilise the screen space efficiently. There’s actually no noticeable bezel seen anywhere across its face. The leak terms the new display design an as Full Screen 3.0.
Moving over to the back, there’s dual camera unit stacked vertically, like the iPhone X. However, unlike the iPhone X, it’s situated in the middle. The leaked official shots suggest that this will be a 12MP + 12MP dual sensor. Ther’s no fingerprint sensor on the rear though as the rendering claim that the Mi MIX 2S will use an under-the-display fingerprint sensor. Apart from the camera, the Mi MIX 2S will be a powerhouse device, courtesy the claimed presence of the Snapdragon 845 chipset accompanied by 8GB of RAM. The Mi MIX 2S is also expected to feature 256GB of onboard storage.
If the leaks are to be believed, then Xiaomi might not launch the Mi MIX 2S at the MWC. The specifications written in Mandarin suggest that the Mi MIX 2S will get its own launch event in China like its predecessors. It will also become one of the first smartphones to use the SD 845 chipset this year.
