‘Made in India’ iPhone X coming this July
After manufacturing the iPhone SE a couple of years ago, the iPhone X will be the next Apple handset to be built in India.
Late last year there were reports stating that Apple will start building higher-end models of its iPhone line-up in India. As per a report by The Economic Times, the iPhone X will be the next handset that is set to get manufactured in India with Foxconn undertaking the assembling process of this highly coveted smartphone.
The report states that Foxconn will start the commercial production of the iPhone X from July and this will be undertaken at its 160-acre factory that’s off Chennai. An official with knowledge about Foxconn’s plans has stated, “Foxconn will begin with the iPhone X (range) from the Chennai plant. The plans are to step up production capacity and diversify to even higher models going forward.”
The report goes on to state that a prolonged increase in manufacturing will rest on the continuance of a “favourable regime into the next government.”
The iPhone X was introduced in 2017 and apart from it being the 10th-anniversary handset from Apple, it was the first to feature the company’s new biometric authentication — Face ID. With this feature in tow, Apple claimed that it was a lot more secure than Touch ID and it was extremely secure.
Since then, Apple has also introduced the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR which is also a part of the iPhone X line-up and the three newer models feature similar design philosophies as the iPhone X.
With Apple set to launch a ‘Made in India’ iPhone X, we expect the price of the handset to be significantly cheaper than what it is currently priced at; making for an interesting proposition for anyone looking to upgrade to this model.
