HP's Power play unveiled
HP has launched new devices for those who wish to alternate Powerpoint with game play.
Globally, the gaming scene is dominated by players who are crazily obsessive about their games and choose gaming over basic necessities like food or sleep. Or so we thought.
HP revealed last week that the majority of gaming enthusiasts have a full-time job that pays their bills; gaming is more of a leisure activity. They are serious about. Having spent substantial hours staring at laptop screens during working hours, this new breed of millennial gamers do not want to invest in a machine just for their gaming pleasure and their current computing devices do not have the horsepower for interactive, new-age gaming. HP has recognized this trend and their recently-launched laptops cannily mix business and pleasure.
The new range of laptops, starting with the Pavilion Gaming 15, is designed for mainstream gamers who also need to perform corporate tasks on their laptop. Powered by an 8th generation Intel Core i7 H-series processor, the laptop also comes with the NVIDIA GeForce GTZ 1050Ti graphics card. With a Bang & Olufsen sound module with HP's own audio boost technology, the Pavilion Gaming 15 comes with a 9.8mm thin bezel on a 15.6-inch display. Design-wise, this laptop has a standout speaker grill and a brushed aluminium keyboard deck. Priced at Rs 74,990, this device contains all the prerequisites for a work cum play device — hardware, design and speed!
For more serious gamers, HP offers another 16.6-inch laptop — OMEN 15 — with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and an Intel i7 processor with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM. It has a superior 4K display compared to the Pavilion's HD screen, though both laptops come with 1TB storage. This device boasts of a 7ms response time and an OMEN command centre with game streaming functionalities. The fan in this laptop has a 3-phase motor and fluid dynamic bearings that dramatically reduce heat generation. The 4-tone keyboard lighting, anti-ghosting keys, B&O sound module and a discreet sound amplifier add to the visual appeal of the OMEN 15. Priced at Rs 1,05,990, the laptop also comes with a range of extra accessories like the sequencer keyboard (Rs 10,999), a Reactor Mouse (Rs 3,499) and a Transceptor backpack (Rs 11,999). Hardcore gamers won't grudge any of this.
