Xiaomi plans to launch curved-edge display smartphone in 2017
The earlier rumours said that Xiaomi would be launching a new device with a curved display, dubbed Mi Edge or Mi Note Edge.
Mumbai: Xiaomi has offered a lot of great mid-ranged smartphones to their customer-base this year and it does not plan on stopping anytime soon. To further enhance its device offering, the company has been working on a device with curved display.
According to a Softpedia report, the CEO of the company, Lei Jun confirmed that the company is working on such a device after numerous rumors started doing rounds on social networks.
The earlier rumours said that Xiaomi would be launching a new device with a curved display, dubbed Mi Edge or Mi Note Edge. While the rumours indicated that the device might hit stores as early as September, the CEO’s statement has put those gossips to rest.
Another tech website Gizmochina reported that the company has plans to utilise LG’s curved display panel on the upcoming device; a 5.7-inch OLED display. Moreover, the handset is expected to come in a metal-clad body.
Under the hood, the device is speculated to equip a Snapdragon 823 and 6GB RAM but we cannot be sure as having such a setup may cause the phone to heat up excessively. There is no information on the camera specs, but we expect it to come along with a 13 or 16MP primary camera.
While the company has been launching numerous devices over the past few months, a curved display will surely help the company lure in a considerable amount of new customers.
