Rumoured Apple iPhone SE 2 to launch next year

Rumours suggest that the upcoming iPhone SE could feature a larger form factor.

Back in 2016, Apple announced the iPhone SE. The handset did exceedingly well due to its smaller iPhone 5-esqe form factor and also because it was priced extremely competitively. Since then, the rumour mill has been rife with reports about an iPhone SE 2, but we are still awaiting such a handset. If the latest reports are anything to go by, then we could see the iPhone SE 2 launch by 2020 and it will come with a form factor that’s similar to the iPhone 8.

The iPhone SE 2’s details also have spilt on the internet and it is believed to come packing an Apple-designed A13 chipset, a 4.7-inch display and a massive 128GB of storage. Pricing details have also been released with it rumoured to cost up to USD 650 which is about Rs 45,000. If this price happens to be true, it may not get as many takers as the original iPhone SE. After all, the iPhone SE did well partly due to its stellar price tag, especially in India.

Apple is expected to release up to three new iPhones this year and they will be successors to the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR. The upcoming iPhone XI and XI Max will feature OLED displays similar to its successors but it will have three rear shooters — an ultra-wide lens, a telephoto lens and a standard lens. A report by GSMArena states that the successor to the iPhone XR will come with an LCD display and dual cameras on the back. This could be a regular shooter alongside an ultra-wide or telephoto lens.

If the rumours of the iPhone SE 2 hold any weight, then we could see the handset being launched in March 2020, similarly to what Apple did in 2016.
