Twitter user spots Samsung faking stock photos as A8 selfies
Samsung's port appeared as saying that the photos have been taken from the Galaxy A8 (2018) selfie camera.
Samsung is all set to unveil its enticing flagship Galaxy Note 9 on August 22. While this is just a few days away, the company suffered a slight stain on its reputation in Brazil where it was caught posting stock images (taken from camera) representing them as selfies from the Galaxy A8 2018 model.
Samsung Brasil Twitter page had some photos posted on it which were selfies with a description that the phone highlights the essential parts of the photo. The post appeared as saying that the photos have been taken from the Galaxy A8 (2018) selfie camera.
However, a Twitter user, who is one of the admins of the page Feliperas, spotted that the images were taken from Getty Images, which is a photo buying platform, and they were originally posted in 2015.
The user did a post on social media which consisted of both the images (from Getty and the one from Samsung) and asked "Want to fool who @SamsungBrasil?" At first, the Samsung Brasil Twitter executive said "This is ours, isn't it nice?" about the photo. But later the Feliperas user rolled out a comprehensive post clearly conveying about the photos belonging to Getty Images.
In the end, Samsung got away saying that most of the pictures in the array are taken from the A8 selfie camera. They are only intended to represent the mood and do not claim to have been taken from the A8 snapper. Later, Samsung Brasil deleted the photos from its Twitter page showing acceptance about the goof up done.
