New LG patent showcases a folding phone that converts into a tablet
The company files two different variants of the patent at World Intellectual Property Organization.
LG files two unique versions of a patent one of which seems to be a folding phone which can be morphed into a tablet as well. This design patent has been filed at World Intellectual Property Organization.
The first model seems to be a foldable phone that features a camera component on the rear, which when folded; the device can display information like the time and date on the front.
The second version mimics the previous one, except when the phone is folded, it has a cover which doesn’t cover the rear completely leaving an always-on display to show time, date and notifications. The rear of the device also has a camera module.
However, it is necessary to mention that it's still unclear whether and when LG will release such a device. Samsung has also filed similar patent recently which u can check here. Who knows, these may be the future of smartphones, at least we can hope so.
