Over the past few years, the definition of texting has evolved. The introduction of emojis in the interface was a treat to texters but the blobs style emojis found on Android operating system are just BLEH!

And thank god! Google has realised it.

Among announcing major developments at Google I/O taking place at the Mountain View, California, Google noted the need to fix to its Android emojis.

Google is finally ditching the blob emoji for the next version of its mobile operating system, Android O. The new emojis will now resemble more like emojis found on Apple and Samsung Galaxy.

“We took a look at many things, but mostly the thing that's most striking is, perhaps, that yes, the candy dots or blobs, are now substituted with a set of squishy circles -- for a lot of good reasons,” Gus Fonts, product manager of Android, told co.design.

According to the Fast Company, Google spent 18 months working on full design of its emojis,

The new emojis are currently available on the beta version of Android O and will be available officially on the OS later this year.
