Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have premiered in most countries. Design and spec-wise, the smartphone seems to have lived up to its fans’ expectations but there is another factor that we are most worried about — its durability. Samsung is under minute-scrutiny especially after its Note 7 fiasco last year.

Thus — in order to check Galaxy S8’s durability — YouTube user JerryRigEverything has put the device through the harshest treatment possible.

The user starts by testing Samsung Galaxy S8’s scratch-proof ability. The device’s display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and it sure did manage to perform well. The user, however noted that the earpiece on Samsung’s Galaxy S8 was pushed inside, thus leaving gap for dirt to settle in easily.

He goes on to note that Samsung Galaxy S8’s flash, which is protected by glass cover, managed to perform normally even after undergoing heavy scratching.

The user moved on to the burn test. When smartphones are next to burning flames, they ideally start to develop a white tinge and then end up never recovering. However, the Galaxy S8 recovered back in 30 seconds. The user went on to carry out the test three more times and it was only after the third try that the burn mark stayed on.

Samsung Galaxy S8 flaunts metal button and edges. Unfortunately, they are quite easily prone to scratches, as showcased in the video. On the contrary, the back of the smartphone proved to be very durable as it did not crack even after heavy ramming.

The user put the Samsung Galaxy S8 through a bend test towards the end of the video wherein he tried all possible ways to try and bend the device. However, he failed to do so thus, proving the fact that the smartphone holds a zero flex possibility.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were launched in India on 19th April in India at a starting price of Rs 57,900. The smartphones will be available for sale, starting May 5 and the pre-bookings have already begun. Interested buyers can log in to Flipkart or Samsung’s official website to purchase the device.
