Smartron tphone P review: Phone with a big heart!
The new Smartron tphone P comes with a massive battery at an affordable price.
Hyderabad-based Smartron, launched a special edition 'srt.phone' (named after Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, its brand ambassador), a few months back. The company’s platform tronX has also been in the news for India-based R&D in IoT to enhance the smart phone experience. In its latest offering – the tphone P, Smartron offers a large 5000mAh battery at an entry level price.
The 5.2-inch device is powered by a 1.1GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor and a large battery which promises two days of charge and a week of standby power. With its OTG support, the tphone P also allows you to charge other devices like speakers, fitness bands etc. The fingerprint sensor located at the back is highly responsive and allows you to unlock your phone, open the camera and answer calls. The device comes in a 13MP back and 5MP front camera configuration, enabled with a low-light flash, wide selfies, burst modes and multiple selfie beautification modes.
The tphone P runs Android 7.1 Nougat P, with a user experience that is very close to stock Android. Available in a 3GB + 32GB memory configuration, expandable to up to 128GB, the device comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, and a hybrid SIM slot that can accommodate two nano SIMS or a SIM and a micro SD card. An additional 1TB of free cloud storage is available by signing in to Smartron’s tronX platform.
The full metal device, available in a single colour (black) weighs 160g, fits snugly in the palm of your hand. Across all of Smartron devices, there is an element of artificial intelligence that runs on the background, flowing from its Indian R&D. The tphone P is priced at Rs 7,999, making it a bargain buy for the specs and features it offers. Available exclusively on Flipkart, its first flash sale was a sell-out with future ones showing promise.
