WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption relies on the generation of unique security keys, using the Signal protocol that are traded and verified between users to guarantee communications are secure.

After receiving a downbeat reaction from its users, WhatsApp has again rolled out the text-only status on the messaging app on all platforms including iOS, Android and Windows as well.

The old text-only status will now feature under a new section called “About” in the app.

Users can update their text-only status—“can’t talk”, “busy”, “Available” etc, or any other customised text by tapping onto ‘Settings,’ which further divides into sub-sections including ‘Profile photo’, ‘Phone number’ and ‘About.’

User can update their status in text by clicking onto ‘About’ section like they previously used to do under the ‘status’ section before it was changed to a photo/video status option.

The text-only status was rolled back on Android first, and now has been made available to other platforms as well including iOS and Windows.

To activate the feature, user will need to update the messaging app. For Android the feature could be downloaded via Android v2.17.107, for iOS its version 2.17.10 and for Windows its v2.17.114.
