There’s not one, not two but three foldable smartphones in the works.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold was a disaster at launch and now the news is seeping in which suggests that Samsung has rectified the issue and the re-launch should take place in the near future. The Galaxy Fold, even though it hasn’t been shipped yet is a bit of old news. What comes next is rather interesting. Samsung is reportedly working on three foldable smartphones that will not just compete with every other manufacturer out there but also feature various folding mechanisms.

As per a report by DigiTimes, who has a hit or miss track record when it comes to predicting future products claims that supply chain sources allege that a Samsung smartphone with a clamshell foldable design is real.

As per a related report by TechRadar, Samsung will be getting its second foldable device out of the gate ahead of its rival Huawei when it launches its Mate X. The report states, “However, the Mate X release is imminent, and the source here suggests Samsung's clamshell phone is due out next year. With initial reports pointing to the clamshell phone being that second device, and that now being suggested by the DigiTimes report to be further away than anticipated, that adds further weight to the possibility of there being another, as-yet-unknown foldable handset coming in the near future from Samsung.”

Over the last few years, smartphone design has reached a standstill and foldable smartphones are viewed as the next step in smartphone evolution. If Samsung does indeed launch the next Galaxy Fold, an MWC 2020 introduction seems the most likely.

However, if we were to wish it, then they could also introduce it alongside the Galaxy Note 10 on August 7 (although this date seems rather unlikely).
