The Moto G4 Play will come in Black and White colour variants.

Last year, Motorola went aggressive to its line-up of smartphones and bombarded the market with a Moto smartphone at every price point. After the launch of the popular G4 and G4 Plus, Motorola also launched the G4 Play in India to compete in the budget smartphone category. For a phone that costs around the Rs 8,000 price mark, the G4 Play was average in terms of what it offered. However, it got buyers, making them assume that it would be one of the firsts in that segment to get the Nougat update.

Moto has turned that assumption into a reality. According to reports from Android Authority, a Lenovo spokesperson has confirmed that the Moto G4 Play will taste the Android Nougat update sometime in June. The update will be released in the form of a global rollout, which means Indian users might get the update at the same time as the international buyers.

It hasn’t been confirmed that whether the G4 Play will get 7.0 or 7.1 in the name of Android Nougat. However, as per our speculation, G4 Play users could only be getting the earlier 7.0, underlining the fact that G4 Play was the entry-level G series smartphone in 2016 and the second affordable phone in the Moto line-up.

The Moto G4 Play’s existence was compromised with its twin brother, the Moto E3 Power, which was a very similar smartphone apart from its processor and camera. The G4 Play is priced at Rs 7,999 and has an SD410 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory expandable up to 128GB and dual SIM (micro+nano with adaptor) dual-standby (4G+4G) with VoLTE, 2800 mAh battery with 10W Rapid charger for quick charging.

Expect the G4 Play to gain slight increments in performance and battery life.
