Rumour: Google Pixel 2 to pack Snapdragon 836 SoC
Recent reports have stated that the upcoming Google smartphone will be the first device to come packed with Snapdragon 836 processor.
Earlier this year, Google confirmed that the firm was working on launching the successors to last year’s Pixel, Pixel XL smartphones with no pertaining details regarding the same. Thanks to the multiple leaks and rumors, the fans now have an idea of what can be expected from the upcoming flagship smartphones. A new report indicates that the Google Pixel 2 might be powered by Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 836 SoC.
As reported by Fudzilla, unnamed industry insiders claim that the Google Pixel 2 smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 SoC. How, it remains unclear whether the processor will be featured in both, Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones. Moreover, the latest speculation doesn’t fall in line with the previous leaks that suggested that the aforementioned device will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC. The source even went on to claim that the Snapdragon 836 will feature higher peak GPU and CPU clock speeds than the Snapdragon 835. Needless to say, Google hasn’t offered any confirmation on the matter as yet. Therefore, it remains to be seen how accurate the report ends up being.
The older reports have even indicated that the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones will sport pressure-sensitive frames — similar to the kind that come equipped in HTC’s Edge Sense technology. As for the release date, the smartphone may most probably be introduced towards the end of this year.
