Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro with 19:9 display notch, dual rear cameras launched

The device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset aided by up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Xiaomi has launched its latest mid-range smartphone — Redmi 6 Pro alongside the Mi Pad 4 in China.

The smartphone sports a 5.84-inch FHD+ (2280 x 1080) display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Redmi 6 Pro is the first smartphone in the Redmi series to come with the controversial notch display, similar to the iPhone X. Notably, a notched display for Xiaomi phones already made debut with the company’s flagship Mi 8 series.

Under the hood, the device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset aided by up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which is expandable up to 256GB. The 6 Pro runs on Android-based MIUI 9. The device is fuelled by a 4000mAh battery.

On the photography front, the Redmi 6 Pro comes with a dual-camera setup, consisting of a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. It also features a f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and a LED flash. Upfront, the handset sports a 5MP camera sensor with AI portrait mode and HDR. The handset comes in Black, Blue, Gold, Pink, and Red colour variants.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth v4.2, 4G VoLTE, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi 802.11, GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include a digital compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, infrared, and a proximity sensor.

The Redmi 6 Pro retails at a price of CNY 999 (approximately Rs 10,400) for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant, CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs 12,500) for the 4GB/32GB variant, and CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs 13,600) for the 4GB/64GB configuration. As of now, there is no word yet on when Xiaomi plans to bring the Redmi 6 Pro and Mi Pad 4 in India.
