Sony launches its flagship Xperia XZ2 at Rs 72,990

The flagship Sony smartphone will be available from August 1.

The XZ2 features 4K HDR movie recording, which Sony says is world's first in a smartphone.

Sony unveiled the Xperia XZ2 which is the latest addition to its Xperia series. The XZ2 features 4K HDR movie recording, which Sony says is world's first in a smartphone, along with full HD 960fps super slow motion video recording.

The 4K HDR movie recording in the new Sony smartphone uses HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) format. This feature is said to allow one to capture movies with improved contrast, detail and colour and share or upload to a compatible HDR TV or YouTube to view content. The XZ2 is equipped with upgraded 960fps super slow motion in full HD video recording capabilities along with Motion Eye. It also possesses control features such as predictive capture with motion and smile detection.

The XZ2 uses Sony’s new dynamic vibration system which analyses audio data and lets user feel the movements in movies, games and videos. The audio is provided using DSEE HX technology for up scaling and utilises enhanced Bluetooth technology LDAC.

The Sony XZ2 boasts of a new design with a 3D glass surface with the intention to make it comfortable in the user's hand. The smartphone has the 5.7-inch HDR full HD+ 18:9  display built with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and metal frame. Certified with IP65/IP68, XZ2 is designed to withstand splashes and spills, as claimed by Sony.

The handset works on a Snapdragon 845 processor. With a large 3180mAh battery, Xperia XZ2 also features smart stamina, stamina mode, plus battery care and Qnovo adaptive charging technology. It also supports wireless QI technology for fast charging. The Xperia XZ2 is equipped with features including ARCore and Google lens to provide consumers virtual world experience. 

The Sony XZ2 comes equipped with 19MP motion eye camera as its primary lens at the back while 5MP sensor fulfills the front camera duties. With the 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage capacity (400GB expandable), the Sony flagship smartphone is priced at Rs 72,990 and its is available only in Black shade.
